PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which is suitable for, especially, a zoom lens for a compact digital camera with high performance and has a wide-angle end and a high variable magnification ratio. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes, in order from an object side along an optical axis: a first lens group I having a positive refracting power and fixed when magnification is varied; a second lens group II having a negative refracting power; a third lens group III having a positive refracting power; a fourth lens group IV having a negative refracting power and fixed when magnification is varied; a fifth lens group V having a positive refracting power; and a sixth lens group VI having a negative or positive refracting power, an aperture stop S being disposed between the second lens group and the third lens group, and when changing magnification from a wide-angle end to a telephoto end, at least the second lens group II, the third lens group III and the fifth lens group V are moved to change the magnification, and the first lens group I includes a reflecting optical element P which bends a light path in the first lens group I.
