Provided is a mobile terminal capable of minimizing battery consumption related to location measurement, which has a function of measuring a location of the mobile terminal itself and reporting the measurement result to a positioning server, and also provided is a location measurement method of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal in accordance with the present invention comprises a motion detection sensor; a location measurement reporting unit which repeats a first location measurement reporting process or a second location measurement reporting process every location measurement period, wherein the first location measurement reporting process includes receiving location measurement data, generating location measurement information by analyzing the location measurement data, and transmitting the location measurement information to the positioning server, and the second location measurement reporting process includes retransmitting the location measurement information having been reported just before; and a control unit which controls the location measurement reporting unit to perform the first location measurement reporting process if a motion has been measured by the motion detection sensor during a first location measurement period, and otherwise, controls the location measurement reporting unit to perform the second location measurement process. |
