[Class 98 (i)] In a roll-film camera in which the portion of the film to be exposed bears on guide means located between the film spools, focusing means are provided which move the guide means relatively to the spools to and from the lens, which is fixed. The focusing means may be coupled to a range-finder. In the camera shown, in Figs. 2 and 3, flanged portions 29 of an apertured plate 30 extend over inturned walls 14 of the casing, and lugs 28, 29 extending upwardly and downwardly from these flanges carry rollers 22, 23 against which the film is pressed by a presser plate 24. Slots 34 and 41a in the lugs 28, 29 are respectively engaged by eccentric portions 33, 41 on shafts 32, 40, the plate 30 being thus held in position. To adjust the focus, the plate 30 is moved by rotation of 'the shafts 32, 40, the shaft 32 carrying a focusing knob 31 and an equal rotation being transmitted to the shaft 40 by a sliding member 37 having racks which engage gears on the ends of the two shafts. A short base split-image range finder is coupled to the focusing means, comprising a fixed mirror 60, through the upper unsilvered portion of which a direct view is seen, and a movable mirror 66 which reflects the lower half of the view to the mirror 60. The mirror 66 is carried by a bracket adjustably mounted on an arm 70 which is pivoted at 71 and carries on a plate 75 adjustably bolted to it a pin 79 engaging a cam surface 80 on a bell-crank lever 81. An arm 84 adjustably secured to the lever 81 engages by means of a spring 88 a pin 87 on one of the lugs 28 of the apertured plate 30. The focusing movement of the plate 30 therefore rocks the lever 81, and the cam 80 moves the arm 70 carrying 'the mirror 60. In a modification, the movable plate 30 is dispensed with, the film being held by a presser plate against rollers carried on eccentrically-mounted spindles which are simultaneously rotated to adjust the focus. Fig. 6, shows a further form, in which rotation of a ring 162 causes, through a pin and slot connection 163, 164, rotation of an annular screwed member 155, the resulting axial movement of which is given to an apertured plate 156 which bears against it, and against which the film is held by a presser plate 158. |
