PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary kiln in which an excess stress due to a difference in coefficients of thermal expansion, is hardly applied to a retort from ring members, surely retaining the retort, and easily performing a mounting work of the ring members. SOLUTION: This rotary kiln 1 includes the cylindrical retort 2, and the ring members 8F, 8R disposed on the outer peripheral face of the retort 2. Each of the ring members 8F, 8R includes an outer ring 80, three or more retainers 81 having inner peripheral faces kept into contact with the outer peripheral face of the retort 2 and arranged in the circumferential direction, connecting members 82 each elastically connecting the adjacent retainers 81 and annularly surrounding the outer peripheral face of the retort 2 with the retainers 81, and the clearance gap 83 defined between the outer ring 80 and the retainers 81.
