570,482. Plate clamping devices. MODREY, H. J. Jan. 6, 1944, No. 270. [Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] Plate clamping and locating pins, for example, of the kind described in Specifications 485,195, 522,940 and 553,623 are provided with positive clamping means that is supplementary to the spring pressure. The pin 1 of half-round crosssection bent to form a head 2 of round section co-operates with a half-round wedge member 3 held at 3a between washers 6, 7 by the spring 5 pressing against a plunger 4 secured on the pin 1. When the spring pressure is inadequate to deal with a buckled plate, a nut 10 is screwed down on to the flange 8a, reinforced at 9 to increase the clamping pressure. The application to a clamp having a bow-spring, as described in Specification 522,940, is illustrated. |
