Disclosed is an active scanning method in a wireless LAN system. An active scanning method includes a step of transmitting a probe request frame through an arbitrary channel and a step of receiving a probe response frame corresponding to the frame request frame through the arbitrary channel from an access point. The probe response frame includes the main channel information of the access point. Therefore, the access point can be quickly scanned.
