PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy sheet material for lithium ion battery case, which allows to reduce an explosion-proof valve working pressure and is excellent in laser weldability. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy sheet material for lithium ion battery case includes: Fe of 0.5 to 2.0 mass%; Si of 0.03 to 0.3 mass%; Cu, Mn, Mg and Zn as impurities which are respectively limited to 0.10 mass% or less; and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, wherein an Al-Fe type intermetallic compound having a circle-equivalent diameter of 5 to 30 nm is distributed by 1,000 pieces/μm<SP>3</SP>in the matrix and, and when the thickness of the original sheet before cold press processing is denoted as T0, the thickness of the original sheet after cold press processing is denoted as T1, the degree R(%) of cold press processing=[(T0-T1)/T0]×100 is defined and the tensile strength TS70(MPa) when R is 70% is compared with the tensile strength TS90(MPa) when R is 90%, (TS70-TS90) is over 5 MPa.
