<p>A method and apparatus 26 includes moving a sheet 21 of fibrous material past a freezing device 17, which sheet is provided with a substance embedding the fibrous material, at least at a first edge 211 of the sheet. The substance is in a non-solid state at room temperature such as at 20 degrees Celsius. The substance may be an epoxy resin or water. The first edge is cooled using the freezing device so that the substance at the first edge becomes solid. The sheet is moved past a machining device 16 while the substance is solid from the cooling using the freezing device. During the step of moving the sheet past the machining device, the first edge is machined with the machining device to provide a first tapered edge 211a. The method may also include heating of a grinding surface of the machining device so that it is above room temperature. A further apparatus includes a machining device with a rotatable first grinding wheel having a cylindrical grinding surface. The sheet may be used to make a wind turbine blade (5, Figure 1).</p> |
