The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for making a color image out of focus based on a depth image. The image processing method includes: receiving an interested depth area to be focused for making a color image out of focus; and applying different blur models to pixels corresponding to the interested depth area in the color image and pixels corresponding to areas other than the interested depth area.
