Disclosed are an apparatus for preventing accidents when moving parked vehicles to prevent the accidents when parked vehicles in two rows move in advance, and a method thereof. The disclosed apparatus is configured to detect the speed of the vehicles and the position of a gear, to detect whether the parked vehicles move and the direction of the movement by using an acceleration sensor, to determine whether the vehicles are parked with at the speed thereof and the position of the gear, to control the operation for detecting an object if a change in acceleration occurs by an acceleration sensor when parking, and to automatically operate an electronic parking brake during detection the object, thereby preventing the object and the vehicle from being collided when the vehicles move. |
