<p>A gateway 14, such as a Home evolved Node B Gateway (HeNB-GW), receives messages from a base station 5-1, 5-2, 5-3, such as a Home evolved Node B (HeNB), and forwards the messages to a communication entity 12, such as a Mobility Management Entity (MME), of a core network 7. The gateway 14 intercepts a message relating to a change of communication cell 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 from a source cell, in which a mobile communication device is located, to a target cell and determines whether the core network 7 needs to be notified of the change of cell. The determination may be based on a number of cell changes that have occurred since messages relating to a change of cell were previously forwarded to the core network 7. When it is determined that the core network needs to be notified, the gateway 14 generates a message for providing information relating to the change of cell to the core network 7 and transmits the message to the communication entity 12 of the core network 7.</p> |
