A vacuum coater (1) for coating a polymeric web with metal or metal oxide comprises an unwind (2), a deposition (3) and a rewind (4) portion; wherein the coater further comprises a gas injector (16) in the rewind portion (4) for providing gas to or about the metallised web prior to rewinding the web onto the rewind roller (17). Preferably, the coater supports (1) the web after the deposition portion solely on the polymeric surface of the metallised or metal oxide coated web. |
