Disclosed is an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus having print, scan and copy modes includes a display unit placed at a front end of the image forming apparatus; a navigation input unit adjacent to the display unit; and a cancel key unit for returning from a currently selected user-selectable item to a previously selected user-selectable item in a control unit and the display unit. The navigation input unit includes a rotation unit for receiving a rotation input for selecting user-selectable items displayed on the display unit; a press key unit for receiving a pressing input; and a direction key unit for receiving a direction input movable between the user-selectable items displayed on the display unit by a user. The control unit detects the operation of one of the rotation unit, the press key unit, and the direction key unit and controls the display unit to allow the user-selectable item concerned with one of the print, scan and copy modes to be displayed according to the detected operation.
