The present invention relates to a composition comprising Polypes affinis extract for suppressing UV-induced apoptosis of human keratinocytes. The Polypes affinis extract shows a light protective effect, free-radical scavenging activity, UV-absorbing activity, lipid peroxidation, and activity of suppressing formation of protein carbonyl and protecting cells by inhibiting DNA damages for UV-induced cell damage of the human HaCaT keratinocytes. Thus, the Polypes affinis extract reduces the UV-induced apoptosis and can restore cell viability by protecting the cell, thereby can be used as a function cosmetic composition and a composition for treatment and protection of the skin caused by the UV light. |
