Pant leg length shortening device

A device and method for shortening the appearance of a pant leg includes an elastic band with a fabric covering. On opposite ends of the band are a main hook and a main loop. The main hook and main loop provide a means for securing the band around a leg of a user. An additional second loop provides a tighter fit. A plurality of small loops are provided along the band. A hooked decorative strip is attached to the loops on the band. Additionally, a hooked strand of decorative beads or charms can be individually attached to each of the loops on the band. After securing the band on the leg, the band is urged upward. A bulge of pant material is created above the band and the bulge is pulled downward over the band creating a shorter length of the pant leg.

1. A method for shortening an appearance of a pant leg of a pair of pants that is worn over a leg of a person using a pant leg length shortening device, comprised of the steps of:
(a) placing the pant leg over the leg of the person; (b) placing the pant leg length shortening device over a lower portion of the pant leg, wherein the pant leg length shortening device includes an elastic material that has a predetermined longitudinal length when said elastic material is disposed in a quiescent non-extended state, and wherein when the pant leg length shortening device is disposed over said lower portion of the pant leg said elastic material is disposed in an extended state, and wherein an effective longitudinal length of said elastic material is greater in said extended state than in said quiescent state, and wherein when said elastic material is disposed in said extended state, said elastic material exerts a force upon the pant leg that urges the pant leg into contact with the leg of the person sufficient to retain the pant leg at a desired position along a longitudinal length of the leg of the person; (c) urging the pant leg and the pant leg length shortening device upward along said longitudinal length of the leg a predetermined amount, wherein said predetermined amount is sufficient to provide a bulge in the pant leg; and (d) grasping a circumference of said bulge and urging said bulge in a downward direction over the pant leg length shortening device a sufficient amount to cover the pant leg length shortening device to prevent viewing of the pant leg length shortening device and over said lower portion of the pant leg.
