Provided are a composition for removing soot to detect a fingerprint, which can not only minimize damage of the fingerprint but also easily detect the finger print at an arson site, and a preparation method thereof. The present invention can effectively remove soot at the fire or the arson site and can minimize damage of the fingerprint of a criminal. Accordingly, the fingerprint can be detected by removing soot using a simple and quick method at the fire or the arson site.
