PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a solid polymer fuel cell capable of preventing deterioration of a fuel cell in the case where a power generation load is smaller than a high load, while increasing a collectable heat exhaust amount in the case where the power generation load is a high load.SOLUTION: A fuel cell C comprises an oxygen electrode on one surface of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane and a fuel electrode on another surface. In a location closer to the oxygen electrode in the fuel cell C, an oxygen supply path is formed for supplying oxygen containing gas to the oxygen electrode. In a location closer to the fuel electrode in the fuel cell, a fuel supply path is formed for supplying hydrogen containing gas to the fuel electrode. When a power generation load is equal to or more than a preset load, a humidification state of oxygen-side humidifying means Ks for humidifying the oxygen containing gas to be supplied to the oxygen electrode is adjusted into a non-humidification state or a low-humidification state to be a dew point lower than an operation temperature of the fuel cell C and when the power generation load is smaller than the preset load, the state is adjusted into a higher-humidification state than the humidification state in the case where the power generation load is equal to or more than the preset load. |
