PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for generating sound specified by a user in an electric vehicle without an increase in cost of the electric vehicle.SOLUTION: There is provided a sound generation system (110) comprising a portable terminal (130) and a sound generation device (120) mounted on an electric vehicle (100). A control unit (131) of the portable terminal reads out sound data stored in a storage unit (132) of the portable terminal and transmits the sound data to the sound generation device (120) by using a second communication unit (133) of the portable terminal. A control unit (121) of the sound generation device causes a sound output unit (123) of the sound generation device to generate sound shown by the sound data received from the portable terminal (130) by using a communication unit (124) of the sound generation device.
