PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which can accurately identify a printing area of a recording medium for dot blank detection.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: a printing data image acquisition unit which acquires a printing data image; an ink jet printer unit which prints on a reverse face of a check; a reverse face CIS unit which scans the reverse face of the printed check; a histogram generation unit which counts number of character pixels of the printing data image and the scanned image of the reverse face of the check in the X direction and the Y direction of each image to generate projection histograms (S51, S58); a printing area clipping unit which clips the printing area of the scanned image on the basis of a collation result between the projection histogram of the printing data image and the projection histogram of the scanned image; and a dot blank detection unit which detects occurrence of dot blank on the basis of the printing data image and the clipped image clipped by the printing area clipping unit. |
