Disclosed are a high capacity silicon-based anode material for a secondary battery, and a method for manufacturing the same. The high capacity silicon-based anode material includes a complex powder of SiOx-Si comprising: a silicone oxide powder, represented by a general formula of SiOx, wherein oxygen contents (x) ranges from zero to two; and metal silicon powder combined with the above silicone oxide. The average particle size of the metal silicon is above 50nm and below 500nm.
