A digital image processing device equipped with a function for discriminating a type of a USB(Universal Serial Interface) host and a communication method thereof are provided to remove need for selecting the type of the desired USB host in a menu screen by determining the type of the USB host and setting a communication mode corresponding to the type. A USB connector(150) is connected to a plurality of USB hosts having a different data transfer rate. A detector(132) detects connection of the USB host connected to the USB connector. A determiner(133) determines the data transfer rate by receiving a control signal of the USB host through the USB connector. A driving unit(134) drives one of USB drivers to perform a communication mode according to the determined data transfer rate. |
