PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device, an image reading device and an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the increase of costs.SOLUTION: A light emitting device 10 is used for an image reading device 50 for reading an image by light emitted to an original M. The light emitting device 10 includes a plurality of visible light sources 1 and an infrared light source 2. The plurality of visible light sources 1 are configured to respectively emit visible light LA. The infrared light source 2 is configured to emit infrared light LB. The plurality of visible light sources 1 are arranged such that a visible light emission range Q in which at least a part of the visible light LA emitted from each of the plurality of visible light sources 1 is overlapped is formed when each of the plurality of visible light sources 1 emits the visible light LA. The plurality of visible light sources 1 and the infrared light source 2 are arranged such that at least a part of the infrared light LB emitted from the infrared light source 2 is overlapped with the visible light emission range Q when each of the plurality of visible light sources 1 emits the visible light LA, and the infrared light source 2 emits the infrared light LB.
