[Class 20 (iii)] A mounting member for window panes 11, 12 or similar panels has channels in opposite faces, a pair of channels being in at least one face, and wedge-receiving recesses in the sides between the channelled faces. The form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a strip 4 of elastic deformable material (rubber) of substantially U-section, the central slot 3 taking the ends 13 of the window frame 14 and each leg of the U having one recess 5 (or 6) for the frame 11 (or 12) and a second recess 7 (or 8) for a wedging filler 10. The slots 5, 6 and if desired 3 are divergent inwardly so that as the material of the member 4 is compressed by the insertion of the filler pieces 10, the members 11, 12, 13 are gripped firmly. The pieces 10 may be rubber but are preferably stiffer than the material of strip 4. Where the strip 4 surrounds a windscreen built up of several panes placed edge to edge, the meeting edges of edges of these panes, e.g. 11a, 11b are set in a strip 16 as shown in Fig. 3 ; 110 being the filler pieces. |
