<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of residual toner scattering from a developing unit to reduce deterioration of image quality without adding a new member.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a developer carrier that supplies a developer to the image carrier, and a control unit that applies an AC voltage to the developer carrier during image formation. The control unit has a toner discharge control mode to apply developing bias only with a DC voltage to discharge a toner from the developer carrier to the image carrier during non-image formation with the image carrier.</p> |
