PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a glow discharge mass spectrometry for accurate mass spectrometry of specimen surface.SOLUTION: A flat cell type glow discharge mass spectroscope includes; a discharge electrode; a sample electrode holder for supporting a sample serving as a counter electrode; and an insulation ring for preventing electric short circuit between the discharge electrode and the sample electrode holder. The insulation ring has a thickness of 1.5 mm or greater.
