PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated member for a cutting tool and the like, which comprises a coating layer combining proper deposition resistance and abrasion resistance.SOLUTION: In a surface-coated member for a cutting insert 1 and the like, a coating layer 6 comprising many layers including at least one TiCN layer (8, 9, 10 and 13) is provided on a surface of a substrate 5; the uppermost TiCN layer 13 among the TiCN layers is made of a granular crystal of TiCN; and a peak is highest in X-ray diffraction measurement (422). |
