PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SC type optical connector capable of easily connecting a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber.SOLUTION: An optical connector 1, which is an SC type optical connector connected to the end of an optical cable 3 provided with an optical fiber 31 made of a plastic optical fiber, includes: a ferrule 11 connected to an adapter; a caulking ring 14, attached to the ferrule 11, in which the optical cable 3 is inserted into the inside thereof; an optical fiber 19 retained in the ferrule 11 and optically connected to the optical fiber 31; and caulking fittings 17, provided on the caulking ring 14, for fixing the optical fiber 31 in a state of biting into a covering layer 31a of a coated fiber in the optical fiber 31. When the optical fibers 19 and 31 are connected to each other, the optical connector 1 requires only that, after the optical fibers 19 and 31 are butted against each other, the caulking fittings 17 are made to bite into the covering layer 31a of the coated fiber in the optical fiber 31. Thereby, easy connection of the optical fibers 19 and 31 is enabled. |
