PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition excellent in terms of extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardance, etc., capable of conferring slipperiness onto the surface of a molding, yielding, when used for an optical cable, a low-friction cable surface as well as a favorable pipeline wiring friendliness; and an optical cable including the resin composition.SOLUTION: The flame-retardant resin composition of the present invention comprises, as resin components, respectively specified quantities of: at least one type selected from between a polyethylene resin and an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer each having a density confined to a specified range; and a polyolefin resin modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid, jointly uses, as flame retardants, respectively specified quantities of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide with respect to the resin components, additionally includes a specified quantity of a silicone-based lubricant, is excellent in terms of extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardance, etc., and yields, when used for an optical cable, a flame-retardant resin composition also having a favorable pipeline wiring friendliness. |
