PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change an entering attitude of an intermediate transfer body directed to a transfer area of the intermediate transfer body and a recording material to maintain good guiding characteristics for the recording material, and suppress image disturbance due to deflection of the intermediate transfer body, in an image forming apparatus of an intermediate transfer system.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus of an intermediate transfer system includes: a surface forming member 7 that is arranged in contact with a rear face of an intermediate transfer body 2 on the upstream side in a conveyance direction of the intermediate transfer body 2 with respect to a secondary transfer member 5, and provided movably back and forth along a direction to intersect with a surface direction of the intermediate transfer body 2 to form a conveyance track surface of the intermediate transfer body 2; and a tension adjustment member 8 that adjusts the tension of the intermediate transfer body 2 so as to cancel the slack of the intermediate transfer body 2 associated with the movement of the surface forming member 7 from a predetermined position. |
