PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sensitively detect light having a risk to cause damage of an optical connector.SOLUTION: An optical connector 100 comprises: an optical fiber insertion part 13 where an optical fiber 91 obtained by removing a coating layer from optical fiber core wire 90 to be exposed is inserted; and light detection means 45 for detecting light propagated through space from the optical fiber insertion part 13 at a position located at a rear end side rather than the optical fiber insertion part 13 and spatially communicated with the optical fiber insertion part 13.
