The present invention relates to an electric steering apparatus to allow normal steering control to the utmost even if a torque sensor has a failure, and a method for outputting a torque thereof. According to the present invention, the electric steering apparatus can improve the reliability for an angle signal for outputting the torque by verifying the angle signal received from each rotor of the torque sensor. And the present invention can improve availability of the steering apparatus by determining the signal having the failure among the angle signal by the verification and by outputting the torque using the angle signal having no failure.
