PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for detecting leakage of a fuel such as liquefied natural gas (LNG).SOLUTION: A leakage detection device for detecting fuel (LNG) leakage comprises: laser irradiation means 14 irradiating a detection target site (tank) 11 by a plane region X with a laser beam 13-1 of a first wavelength (λ) absorbing a specific component (CH) in fuel components, and with a laser beam 13-2 of a second wavelength (λ) not absorbing the specific component in the fuel component; and a two-dimensional optical sensor 15 obtaining optical two-dimensional information generated by the laser beam irradiation.
