PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure an apparatus so that a grid is prevented from being broken by putting a finger or dropping an object on a grid forming surface of a wire grid polarization element mounted on a device in maintenance of the device or like, in a polarization light irradiation apparatus equipped with the wire grid polarization element.SOLUTION: A grid forming surface of a wire grid polarization element is arranged toward a light source. Furthermore, a filter for covering the grid forming surface may be installed directly above the grid forming surface (between the polarization element and the light source). The filter is used through which light of wavelength to be polarized transmits.
