PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel powder which has improved sinterability, suppressed catalytic activity, and excellent debinding properties by raising a shrinkage starting temperature in powder sintering, and to provide a method for manufacturing the nickel powder.SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a nickel powder, a raw material nickel powder, obtained from a gas phase state by condensation, is subjected to wet processing using a sulfur compound and then dried to obtain a nickel powder containing sulfur in the form of a compound of sulfur and nickel on the particle surface. The method for manufacturing the nickel powder includes: (A) a slurrying process of mixing the raw material nickel powder with water to form slurry; (B) a sulfide addition process of adding a water-soluble sulfide into the obtained slurry so that the amount of sulfur contained in a cover layer formed on the particle surface of the obtained nickel powder is 0.05-0.3 mass% based on the total amount of the nickel powder; and (C) a drying process of solid-liquid separating the nickel powder from the obtained slurry and drying the nickel powder under vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. |
