Provided are: a coating composition that has high scratch resistance and that can be used to obtain an acrylic hard coat film that exhibits excellent adhesion with an anti-reflection film; and an optical member that comprises the hard coat film that is obtained using the coating composition. The coating composition comprises an acrylate component (A) and zirconia (B), the mass ratio (B)/(A) of the zirconia (B) to the acrylate component (A) is 0.1-2.0, the acrylate component (A) comprises the substances (a-1), (a-2), and (a-3) that are indicated below, and the content (X) of (a-1), the content (Y) of (a-2), and the content (Z) of (a-3) satisfy the conditions (1) and (2) that are indicated below. The optical member comprises the hard coat film that is obtained using this coating composition. (a-1) is a polyfunctional acrylate compound comprising three or more acrylate groups in one molecule thereof. (a-2) is a dendritic aliphatic compound comprising an acrylate group on an end thereof. (a-3) is an acrylate compound comprising one or two acrylate groups in one molecule thereof, or a mixture of an acrylate compound comprising one or two acrylate groups in one molecule thereof and an acrylate compound other than (a-1) or (a-2). Condition (1): in the acrylate component (A), (X) is 40-60 mass% and the total of (Y) and (Z) is 60-40 mass%. Condition (2): (Z) is 0 mass% or more but less than 100 mass% of the total amount of (Y) and (Z). |
