PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of easily determining reduction in output optical power in an optical amplification device at any of a continuous wave oscillation operation and a modulation operation.SOLUTION: A current Isupplied to an excitation light source 20 is detected, and time-averaged with a predetermined time constant to calculate a time-averaged current I. An output optical power Poutputted from an amplification optical fiber 12 is detected, and time-averaged with a predetermined time constant to calculate a time-averaged output optical power P. An output optical power expectation value P=I×P/Iis calculated by using a reference output optical power Pand a reference current Isupplied to the excitation light source 20 when the reference output optical power Pis outputted from a fiber laser device 1, and the time-averaged output optical power Pand the output optical power expectation value Pare compared with each other. On the basis of the comparison result, reduction in an output optical power of the fiber laser device 1 is determined. |
