<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technology which minimizes the number of pixels in an ineffective pixel region with a simple circuit, in multi-layer processing, to prevent a pixel at an image end from being displaced from the center of gravity in each of layers.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus for generating digital image data of different bands from original image data, includes multiple series-connected processing means comprising filter means which filters input image data and downsampling means which downsamples the filtered image data. The original image data and the digital image data are divided into an effective pixel region and an ineffective pixel region for filter processing. The ineffective pixel region of the original image data includes extra pixels of the number of pixels corresponding to the number of taps of the filter processing in horizontal and vertical directions. The extra pixels in the original image data are also used as extra pixels in filtering the digital image data.</p> |
