<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an object present at an environment of a self-vehicle appropriately.SOLUTION: An object detecting apparatus 10 comprises a radar device 11 for detecting an object present ahead in a travel direction of a self-vehicle, a preceding vehicle determiner 21 for determining a preceding vehicle of the self-vehicle among the objects detected by the radar device 11, an acceleration/deceleration controller 27 for controlling running of the self-vehicle so as to match a distance between the self-vehicle and the preceding vehicle with a target inter-vehicle distance, and a target inter-vehicle distance setting unit 25 for setting the target inter-vehicle distance according to a reception level of electromagnetic wave by the radar device 11. The target inter-vehicle distance setting unit 25 sets an inter-vehicle distance where the reception level becomes a maximal value as the target inter-vehicle distance.</p> |
