The present invention relates to a heat sink (1) for a lighting device (10), which, in particular, takes the form of a fitted light or a downlight. The heat sink (1) can be at least partially deformed such that the length (or height) of the heat sink (1) changes in order to adapt to space (9) available between a false ceiling (7) and a bare ceiling (6). The heat sink (1) consists of a plurality of cooling arms (2) in at least one section of its length, which are designed to extend outwards laterally from the heat sink. The extending of the cooling arms (2) reduces the length of the length section (10) and consequently the total length of the heat sink.
