A lighting device such as a light bulb is disclosed that comprises aside wall (20) that may have an annular or polygonal shape extending between a first surface (10) carrying a reflective element (40) and an exit surface (30), said side wall comprising a plurality of solid state lighting elements (22) arranged to emit light inwardly, wherein the reflective element comprises a generally concave surface (40', 40") facing the solid state lighting elements. A luminaire including such a lighting device is also disclosed.
