FAILSAFE SYSTEM FOR LOAD COMPENSATING DEVICE An apparatus and system for automatically deploying an air deflector (32) of a load compensating device (30) when there is a loss of communication or power is provided. In some examples, the apparatus and system may include a spring (206) configured to rotate a gear (208a-208c), thereby deploying the air deflector (32). In some arrangements, the spring (206) may be a torsion spring and may be biased to rotate the gear (208a-208c) when released from a hold position maintained by a latch (204). The latch (204) may be controlled by a release mechanism (202), such as a solenoid, that may be configured to activate upon occurrence of a communication loss event. The release mechanism (202) may release the latch (204), thereby releasing the spring (206) and deploying the air deflector (32).
