Provided is a technique for easily confirming the presence of forsterite without destroying an object to be measured. A position where forsterite is present is confirmed from a region in which light is emitted by excitation by an electron beam when the electron beam has been applied to a material having the forsterite. The present invention is suitably applicable when the material is a grain-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet having a forsterite layer. Further, when the material is a grain-oriented electromagnetic steel sheet having a tensile coating layer on the fosterite layer, the acceleration voltage when the electron beam is applied is preferably 30 kV or more.
