A display device has a display region and a non-display region other than the display region. The display device comprises: a first base substrate and a pixel electrode provided on the first base substrate; a first alignment film provided on the first substrate; a second substrate including a second base substrate and a common electrode provided on the second base substrate; a second alignment film provided on the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer provided between the first alignment film and the second alignment film. In the non-display region of the second substrate, a groove corresponding to at least a portion of the edge of the second alignment film is provided.
