A composite type touch switch for an automatic door and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The touch switch for an automatic door comprises a display unit, a touch sensing unit, a touch duration checking unit, and a control unit. The touch sensing unit is arranged on the display unit. The touch duration checking unit compares a touch duration of a user through the touch sensing unit with a prestored set touch time. The control unit (i) controls to open and close the automatic door, when a touch duration is shorter than or equal to the set touch time, (ii) controls to display numeric keys and special function keys on the display unit, when the touch duration is longer than the set touch time, (iii) controls to release a locked door lock, set to an automatic door mode, and open and close the automatic door, when passwords and automatic door setting keys are inputted through the numeric keys and special function keys, respectively, and (iv) locks the automatic door and sets to a door lock mode, when passwords and door lock mode setting keys are inputted through the numeric keys and special function keys, respectively. Accordingly, an automatic door opening/closing operation is performed, when the touch duration is shorter than or equal to the set touch time, and an automatic door mode or a door lock mode is set, when the touch duration is longer than the set touch time, thereby enabling the touch switch to be used for opening/closing an automatic door as well as for digital door keys. |
