1. A composition comprising ingredients (A) and (B): where
Ingredient (A) is a catalytically effective amount of a reaction product of a Fe(II) precursor and a ligand, where the Fe(II) precursor is distinct from the reaction product of the Fe(II) precursor and the ligand, and where the ligand is one of general formulae (ii), (iii), (iv), (v), (vi), (vii), (xiii), (xvi), (xvii), (xviii), (xix), (xx), (xxi), or (xxii), or one of ligands 5, 10, 23, 32, 33, 37, 41, 42, 43, 44, 50, 56, 58, 66, 68, 76, 78, 81, 83, 100, 101, 103, 105, 108, 109, 110, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 118, 122, 123, 125, 131, 141, 154, 168, 169, 171, 172, 173, 174, 175, 177, 178, 179, 188, 189, 192, 208, 231, 233, 234, 239, 240, 250, 260, 264, 267, 268, 276, 277, 278, 279, 280, 281, 283, 284, 285; where General formula (ii) is where subscript a is an integer from 0 to 4, A1 and each A3 are each independently selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that when subscript a>1, then A3 may form a ring structure with another A3, A2 is a monovalent organic group with the proviso that A2 may form a bridged structure with an ethylene bridge to another structure (ii), and with the proviso A2 is not mesityl; or General formula (iii) is where subscript b is an integer from 0 to 4, Q2 is selected from OH and SA14, where A14 is selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, Q4 is selected from O, S, and C, Q3 is selected from N and C, A11 is selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, each A13 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that when b>1, then A13 may form a ring structure with another A13, and A12 and A10 are each independently selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, an inorganic group, and nothing; or General formula (iv) is where Q5 is selected from O and S, A21, A23, A22, and A20 are each independently selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, A24 is selected from H and a monovalent organic group; with the provisos that A20 and A21 may combine to form a ring structure and/or A22 and A21 may combine to form a ring structure and/or A23 and A24 may combine to form a ring structure; or General formula (v) is where subscript c is an integer from 0 to 4, each A33 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that when c>1, then A33 may form a ring structure with another A33, and A31 and A32 are each independently selected from H and a monovalent organic group; or General formula (vi) is where Q8 is selected from O and S, Q9 is selected from N and P, subscript d is an integer from 0 to 4, each A43 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that when d>1, then A43 may form a ring structure with another A43, A41, A44, and A40 are each independently selected from H and a monovalent organic group with the proviso that A40 and A44 are not mesityl or methylphenol, and A42 is selected from H, a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group; or General formula (vii) is where subscript e is an integer from 0 to 4, each A53 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that when e>1, then A53 may form a ring structure with another A53, and A52 and A51 are each independently selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, with the proviso that A51 and A52 may combine to form a ring structure; or General formula (xiii) is where A111 is selected from H, monovalent organic group, a halogen and an inorganic group, and A102 is selected from H and a monovalent organic group; or General formula (xvi) is where subscript t is an integer from 0 to 3, subscript u is an integer from 1 to 3, and each A141 and each A142 are independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group; or General formula (xvii) is where subscript w is an integer from 0 to 4, each A151 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen and an inorganic group, and A152 and A153 are each independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen and an inorganic group; or General formula (xviii) is where subscript x is an integer from 0 to 4, each A161 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, and A162, A163, and A164 are each independently a monovalent organic group. General formula (xix) is where subscript aa is an integer from 0 to 4, subscript bb is an integer from 0 to 4, each A171 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen and an inorganic group, each A172 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen and an inorganic group, and A173 and A174 are each independently a monovalent organic group; or General formula (xx) is where subscript cc is an integer from 0 to 4, each A181 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, and A182 is a monovalent organic group; or General formula (xxi) is where subscript dd is an integer from 0 to 4, each A191 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, A192, A194, and A195 are each independently a monovalent organic group, and A193 is selected from a monovalent organic group, H, a halogen, and an inorganic group; or General formula (xxii) is where subscript ee is an integer from 0 to 4, each A201 is independently selected from a monovalent organic group, a halogen, and an inorganic group, and A202 is selected from a monovalent organic group, H, a halogen, and an inorganic group; or Ingredient (B) is a silicon containing base polymer having an average, per molecule, of one or more hydrolyzable substituents, and Ingredient (A) is capable of catalyzing a condensation reaction of the hydrolyzable substituents on ingredient (B). |
