PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber capable of offering a more comfortable ride on a vehicle.SOLUTION: A shock absorber D1 includes a cylinder 1, a piston 2 slidably inserted into the cylinder 1 for partitioning the cylinder 1 into an elongation side chamber R1 and a pressure side chamber R2, a reservoir R, a suction passage 3, a straightening passage 4, and a damping force adjusting part V. The shock absorber D1 further includes a pressure chamber 14, and a free piston 5 for forming an elongation side pressure chamber 17 and a pressure side pressure chamber 16. A pressure derived from the pressure side chamber is given to the free piston 5 to press the free piston 5 in one side of a sliding direction, and a pressure derived from the elongation side chamber is given to the free piston 5 to press the free piston 5 in the other side of the sliding direction. A pressure side pressure receiving area A of the free piston 5 to which the pressure derived from the pressure side chamber is given is larger than an elongation side pressure receiving area B of the free piston 5 to which the pressure derived from the elongation side chamber is given. |
