摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine that can release lock at any start regardless of a starting environment of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An accumulator 47 is installed between a check valve 48 and a first solenoid selector valve 45. At low temperature of an engine, first and second lock pins 28, 29 of a first lock mechanism 4a are inserted into first and second lock holes 24, 25 in an engageable manner so as to lock a vane rotor 9 in a first intermediate rotating position. At start of the engine at an ultralow temperature, high pressure of the accumulator causes the first and second lock pins to exit from the first and second lock holes so as to immediately release the lock, and the vane rotor 9 is rotated in a second intermediate rotating position by using friction torque so as to attain a state that enables restarting.
