Provided in an embodiment of the present invention are a machine-type communication (MTC) method and device, the method comprising: receiving a first inquiry request transmitted by an MTC server in communication with a user equipment (UE); determining a machine-type communication interworking function (MTC-IWF) entity in communication with the UE according to the MTC-IWF load condition and/or the UE position information; and transmitting a first inquiry response to the MTC server, the first inquiry response carrying the identifier of the MTC-IWF in communication with the UE, such that the MTC server, according to the identifier of the MTC-IWF, establishes communication with the MTC-IWF communicating with the UE. The method of the embodiment of the present invention determines an MTC-IWF in communication with a UE according to the MTC-IWF load condition and/or the UE position information, thus properly allocating network resources and improving utilization of the entire network. |
