A surface-coated boron nitride sintered tool wherein at least a blade section includes a cubic boron nitride sintered body and a coating layer (10) formed upon the surface of the cubic boron nitride sintered body. A B layer (30) of the coating layer (10) comprises at least one of each of at least two types of thin film layers (31, 32) having different compositions and being alternately laminated. A B1 thin film layer (31), which is one type of thin film layer, comprises at least one of each of at least two types of compound layer (31A, 31B) having different compositions and being alternately laminated. The thicknesses of each of the compound layers (31A, 31B) is at least 0.5 nm and less than 30 nm. The thickness of a B2 thin film layer (32), which is one type of thin film layer and is different from the B1 thin film layer (31), is more than 30 nm and less than 200 nm.
