<p>The present invention uses data for a small number of past cases of modifications to accurately predict the effect of a modification, such as additional costs arising in conjunction with a modification. A device having a storage unit for storing a word list containing words related to design modifications for a design object obtains, from a report document indicating the content of a design modification for the design document, words which match words contained in the word list. From the obtained words, primary modification items which are items in a drawing of the design object and the modification of which is indicated directly in the report document, and the frequency with which a design modification occurs in each partition produced by dividing the range of the amount of modification which the primary modification items can undergo into a prescribed number of partitions, are obtained. From the primary modification items, and from the frequency with which a design modification occurs in each partition produced by dividing the range of the amount of modification which the primary modification items can undergo into a prescribed number of partitions, and from a probability propagation model, secondary modification items which are items in the drawing of the design object modified in the report document, and the frequency with which a design modification occurs in each partition produced by dividing the range of the amount of modification which the secondary modification items can undergo into a prescribed number of partitions, are obtained.</p> |
